Home Projects
Think of a project your student(s) could engage in at home. It might be reorganizing a room to become a space for them. It might be growing indoor herbs for cooking. It might be tracking the medals earned at the Olympics to predict and see which country wins the most overall and in each event. It might be planning out space and budgeting for a new pet. Discuss the steps needed to complete the project and make a plan together. (See the resource below for help!)
Community Projects
Think of how you could involve students in projects within the community, such as these:
Create a "Little Library" where students can drop off books they no longer need and pick up "new" ones that have been dropped of by other students.
Help older members of the community to better use technology by sharing basic cell-phone tips or using apps that can make their lives easier.
Share messages of positivity by creating sidewalk chalk art or posting flyers with permission in local establishments. For students who have an interest in creating art, they could talk with a local business owner about creating a piece to be displayed in their office, restaurant, or store, for example.
Clean up the litter on the streets.
